Independence Day Activities
Independence Day this year is almost back to normal with most communities in Ohio celebrating with socially distanced picnics, concerts, fireworks displays and other activities. Below is a list by region of the major celebrations starting today (July 1( and going through the holiday weekend.
CENTRAL OHIO
The traditional Powell Festival will be held as a three-part concert series this year instead of a one-time annual weekend of festivities. The concert series will be held from 6-9 p.m. at Village Green Park, 47 Hall Street.

9:50 pm: Fireworks. Celebrate Independence Day with a community fireworks display launched from Murfin Fields at 9:50 p.m., Friday, July 2 with simulcast music on Qfm96, WLVQ-96.3 radio. For the safety of all, parking and spectators are not permitted at Murfin Fields, but free parking is available at Grove City High School, Grove City Church of the Nazarene, Windsor Park, and Hayes Intermediate and J.C. Sommer Elementary schools.

July 2-5, 2021: Throughout the weekend, stroll all around downtown and enjoy games, musical performances, an outdoor movie, a costume contest, delicious food, shopping, various tours, a parade, and view this year’s spectacular, super-sized fireworks! Friday, July 2nd: The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 1st Friday events with a Bicentennial flair. This will include entertainment and food throughout the downtown historic district.
· 4:00 pm: The Bucyrus Bicentennial Weekend Celebration starts off with a dedication of the Schines Art Park Stage
· 5:00 pm: The Hobos will perform at the Schines Art Park Stage
· At dusk: The evening will close out with a movie at Schines Art Park
Saturday, July 3rd: The celebration continues with entertainment at Schines Art Park, downtown food vendors, tours throughout downtown Bucyrus, tours of the Bucyrus Fire Department with food vendors in the adjacent lot, a parade, and fireworks capping off another exciting day.
· 12 noon – 2:00 pm: Historical Costume Contest registration and judging will take place at the Schines Art Park Stage
· 1:00-6:00 pm: Tours of the Bucyrus Fire Department
· 1:00-5:00 pm: Horse and wagon tours of downtown Bucyrus
· 3:00-8:00 pm: Live performances at the Schines Art Park Stage
· 6:00 pm: Parade in honor of the Bicentennial Celebration. The parade will start at Harmon Park Soccer Fields and travel southbound on Lane Street to the Bucyrus Elementary School.
· At Dusk: Fireworks will be shot off from Harmon Park. See optimal viewing locations
Sunday, July 4th: At 12:00 pm: There will be a Cemetery Walk featuring notable Bucyrus citizens at Oakwood Cemetery (835 Kaler Avenue, Bucyrus, OH). Monday, July 5th: 1:00 pm: Opening of the Bucyrus Time Capsule at the Bucyrus Historical Society. The Historical Society will be open for tours from 1:00 – 5:00 pm this day only.

8 a.m. Sherm Sheldon fishing derby at Dublin Community Recreation Center, 5600 Post Rd. Details. 11 a.m. Independence Day parade from Metro Place turning north onto Frantz Road, east on Bridge Street, then continues south on High Street ending at Waterford Drive. Inflation celebration for the parade not scheduled or tba for 2021. No candy distribution for the parade 4:00 p.m. Evening celebration at Dublin Coffman HS Stadium (wristband required) featuring Fabulous Johnson Brothers, 90’s Kids, and Mojoflo.
All guests age 4 and older will need a Stadium Wristband or Reserved Table Wristband to enter Dublin Coffman High School Stadium. Only Reserved Table wristbands grant access to the Reserved Table area on the field.
Dublin residents and Dublin School District residents will be able to purchase Stadium Wristbands guaranteeing access to the event for $5 each beginning Monday, June 7 at 9 a.m. Unsold Stadium Wristbands will be available to the general public on July 3 for $10 ONLINE ONLY while supplies last. Wristbands will not be available for purchase onsite at the stadium. No Kids Zone for 2021. Lawn seating areas are available outside the stadium gates and where the previous Kids Zone area was located. These areas do not require a wristband.

Celebrate the 4th of July at VASO rooftop restaurant and bar at the AC Hotel Columbus Dublin (6540 Riverside Dr). Attendees will enjoy a private evening of dining and the best firework show in Dublin – straight from the rooftop, as well as a DJ all evening. General admission tickets are $50, and include access to the rooftop patio, and two complimentary drink tickets. Tables are available for purchase for the entire evening, and include a minimum spend. NORTHEAST OHIO
Akron
When: Sunday, July 4, 9:45 p.m. Where: Akron Executive Airport, Patterson Park Ballfields, Summit Lake and Erie Island.
Just like last year, the city of Akron is offering smaller neighborhood Fourth of July displays, rather than one large one. People can gather in their own neighborhoods or head directly to the fireworks locations. An accompanying soundtrack can be heard on WONE 97.5 FM. Test fireworks will be released beforehand so people know which vantage point is best.
RubberDucks Fireworks weekend

The Akron RubberDucks are hosting the only downtown city fireworks over Independence Day Weekend. Expect tunes from Zac Brown Band on Saturday and Imagine Dragons on Sunday. Tickets can be found right here.

Ashland

The Rotary Club of Ashland is once again putting on the city’s large fireworks display at Community Stadium. According to its website, certain health protocols will be in place and people are allowed to space out and wear masks when/if appropriate.
Auburn Township/Bainbridge
When: Friday, July 2 Where: Kenston High School, 9500 Bainbridge Road, Chagrin Falls
While everything else is canceled for the day, fireworks are happening at dusk on the Kenston High School. If it rains, the fireworks go off Saturday instead. Find more about the event right here.

The Cleveland Orchestra, one of the best in the world, is helping Northeast Ohioans celebrate the Fourth in style, offering two nights of glorious patriotic tunes and fireworks at the outdoor amphitheatre. Downtown Display

Official Cleveland fireworks are back this year. The 2021 Light Up the Lake event begins at dusk and people can view the Lake Erie fireworks from various vantage points, just by looking up. Fireworks are shot off from the Port of Cleveland’s Dock 20.
